Reports Indicate Social Security Numbers Revealed -- Cram Session, Too

Researchers are reporting that they were able to break the code for Social Security Numbers issued after 1988 when they were issued at birth. In 44% of attempts, researchers were able to guess the first five numbers of a person's SSNSocial_Security_Baby and in 8.5% of the cases, they were able to guess all nine numbers for the people in less than 1,000 attempts. Frankly, that sucks for people born after 1988, which isn't me. The same report also indicated that states with fewer people resulted in it being easier to guess the Social Security numbers of the residents and that identity theft cost people more than $50 billion in 2007 alone. While the Social Security Number code may have been broken, we can assure you that our Cram Session and Refer-A-Friend programs are still going strong.
