Barcode Turns 57, Gets Scanned To Celebrate

Fifty-seven years ago today, the United States granted a patent on something that has made life and checking out a lot easier for everyone -- the barcode. The barcode, which those of us that have worked in retail are extremely pleased about its implementation. For those of you unfamiliar with what a barcode is, it's a series of differnt-shaped lines on the outside of most product that allows easy scanning when purchases arBarcodee being made or something else requires the input of a series of numbers.Turns out the barcode was first invented by Norman Woodland and Bernard Silver who originally patented as a circle that could be scanned from any direction but later evolved into the rectangle-shaped barcode that we all love so much. I first remember seeing one on my He-Man lunchbox when I was a young child and if you care to hear more about that, feel free to e-mail me This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Join Us In Getting Ready For Usher's New Single

Usher is one of Starving Students' favorite artists and we personally cannot wait for him to release his new song, "Papers". Apparently this song will detail his divorce from his ex-wife and if we know Usher, it'll probably be a good song to dance to, too, making it that much better. Ask our movers if they're big Usher fans and maybe get one of them to sing along with you as we give you the best move you've ever had with Starving Students. And walk down memory lane with us as we watch and listen to one of Usher's greatest hits here.

Rio De Janeiro Beats Out Chicago For 2016 Summer Olympics

Turns out the IOC just doesn't appreciate The Windy City like most of us would. Despite tireless pleas from President Barack Obama, Rio De Janeiro was awarded the 2016 Summer Olympics over Chicago. This makes it the first South Rio_OlympicsAmerican city ever awarded the games and sends Chicago and other would-be Olympic hosts back to the drawing board to try and woo the X-Games instead. Too bad for those of us that would have made the trek to Illinois to watch all of the events that are worth the four-year wait to see like gymnastics and basketball and the other events. Even worse for the rest of the world that might not ever taste deep-dish pizza like the ones you can find in Chicago. Don't make a bad decision like the International Olympic Committee made when they skipped out on the U.S. and choose Starving Students when you move. Host Of 2016 Olympics Games To Be Announced

At 10 am Pacific Standard Time, the International Olympic Committee will be announcing where the 2016 Summer Olympic Games will be hosted. And if President Barack Obama has his way, the games will be held in Chicago, which is one of the finalists for the prestigious games. Other finalists include Madrid, Tokyo and Rio De Janeiro -- but most of us are probabChicagoly hoping that The Windy City will end up getting awarded the Games. And with any luck, we'll hear the great news soon. And if you'd like to move to Chicago, go ahead and give us a call. We don't regularly service the area, but a long distance move can certainly land you in The Windy City in time for the Summer Olympics. Or even better, you can move there to train for the Games and bring home the gold for the United Stated. Go ahead and send us here at Starving Students an e-mail here This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Kimbo Slice Loses Again, Needs To Move

Kimbo Slice's latest attempt to make a career in the octagon of the UFC might have been his last as he was pinned to the ground twice in two rounds and pummeled to the point that the referee had to stop the fight and award a technical knockout victory to Roy Nelson, ending Kimbo's journey in The Ultimate Fighter. Well, maybe not. At the end of last night's show, UFC owner Dana White teased that Kimbo might just have another chance if another fighter bows out or gets hurt, probably more in ordKimboer to try and get us to watch Kimbo and his beard dominate the air time at the TUF house. But seriously, that Kimbo fight sort of sucked if you're a Kimbo fan. I personally wanted to see him go on and fight some more, but for the third time in his last three actual matches, Kimbo got rocked -- even though he somehow won that one against the guy with the ear. But now, Kimbo should really consider moving out and giving up his MMA career. And you know we could supply him with a discount on his move out of the house. We might even be able to give him some fighting tips when we move him as he makes his way back to his hometown of Miami, FL, so that he doesn't get pinned to the ground and pounded like he did last night. And if you want to make a move, be sure to e-mail us here This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. And if you want to see Kimbo's best move, don't watch last night's fight because we're quite sure it wasn't on display.
