Disney Buys Marvel For $4 Billion

Disney rules the world. That should be a new video game title, cause it's partially true. They already own ESPN, ABC and a bunch of other stuff. And now add Marvel to that list. For a mere $4 billion, the Mickey Mouse-themed company has Marvelpurchased Marvel Entertainment and all the characters that come along with Marvel including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America and the Hulk. So now imagine movies featuring Mickey in that wizard outfit battling against the X-Men or Donald Duck throwing a fit while the Hulk looks on and you'll get the picture. Disney's status as a media empire has expanded even further with the writing of a $4 billion check. One way Disney can save money now is to use Starving Students to move all of those characters over to their Disney home.Wolverine and Spider-Man can save $20 off of their next move with our Back To School special if they qualify as they make their move from that mansion to their new Disney theme park. After 26 Years, Reading Rainbow Cancelled

"Take a look, it's in a book ... ". Most of you know the words to the song if you grew up watching Reading Rainbow and after 26 wonderful years, the show is coming to an end. The 26 years the show was on the air made it the third-longest for a television show behind Sesame Street and Mister Rogers Neighborhood. The show starred LeVar Burton who came to prominence starring in Roots and later in Star Trek: The Next Generation, though many of us will remember him as the host of the children's show that encouraged us to read. I haven't even seen the show in several years but it still holds a place in my heart and here in the office, we still sing the song out loud causing others to join in on the catchy tune (see the video here ... you know you want to). In case you're wondering, here are the lyrics courtesy of BestChildrensMusic.com:

Butterfly in the sky I can go twice as high Take a look It's in a book A Reading Rainbow

I can go anywhere Friends to know And ways to grow A Reading Rainbow

I can be anything Take a look It's in a book A Reading Rainbow A Reading Rainbow And while you're enjoying the video here, make sure to check out special Starving Students offers to save you money on your move. Our Back To School special is a perfect choice to commemorate Reading Rainbow and its promotion of education. Send us an e-mail here This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Derek Jeter Engaged To Minka Kelly?

New York Yankees shortstop and living legend Derek Jeter is rumored to be engaged to Derek_Jeterlongtime girlfriend and Friday Night Lights star Minka Kelly. The duo is reported to be planning a September wedding and have allegedly told their friends and family to "hold the date" in anticipation of their wedding. Luckily for baseball and Yankee fans across the country, the wedding is scheduled to take place after baseball season is over when either the Yankees or Dodgers will still be celebrating winning the World Series, though the Angels have a chance, too. We can't necessarily give out wedding gift ideas, but a discount on any move that either of the couple might have would be a good start. Go ahead and see how to get them $20 off of their next move with our Cram Session or Back To School specials. E-mail us here This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Great California Garage Sale Promise Fortune Teller Machines

This weekend and this weekend only, take advantage of The Great California Garage Sale and help fill the hole that exists within the state budget. Among the items that will be up for auction will be a number of former state vehicles, part of Governor Schwarzenegger's plan to reduce the state's vehicle fleet by 15%. The bidding for some of these vehicles have us thinking about making a trip up to Sacramento, where the auction will be helGarage_Saled. While every vehicle has already has been placed on eBay and has received bids already, they're on the relatively cheap side of the fence. A Ford Taurus is running at about $1,500 currently with a 2003 receiving a bid of $6,000. And that's not all. There are also your everyday office items and believe it or not, eight fortunte teller machines that the DMV has had for years (why???), some old pianos from state parks and the top list on everyone's wishlist, some dental chairs from prisons. Nope, we're not making this up. Because we're at our headquarters here in Los Angeles and can't make it up to Sacramento to buy some of the goodies that are sure to have everyone voting for Arnold again next election, we're looking to hire some of our movers to pick up our winnings. If you'd like to do the same, shoot us an e-mail here This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. NYC Skinny House For Sale

As you can imagine with nearly one million moves over the course of our 36 years of service, we've seen many things. We've seen pretty much every type of condo, apartment and house you can imagine and we've moved offices of all sorts. NYC_Skinny_HouseBut one thing we hasn't seen is something being touted as New York City's skinniest house. At 9 1/2 feet wide and 42 feet long, it sounds like it would be easy to move. Or not. Probably depends on what exactly is inside the house. But it's been around since 1873 and it's located at 75 1/2 Bedford St in Greenwhich Village, which is cute because it's sandwiched in between 75 and 77 Bedford St. You see, the house is skinny and is between two others, so it gets that little "1/2" designation on its address. And now it's for sale. You can own this humble abode for a cool $2.7 million -- which is a slight uptick from the $1.6 million that the current owner paid for it in 2000. And imagine all the fun you could have in that house and all the guests (guest?) you could squeeze in there on those party nights. And if you do buy NYC's skinniest house, make sure to call us up and see if we can squeeze your stuff in there for you. Granted we don't have a branch there, but we could handle a long distance move if you're moving there. And make sure to take advantage of one of our many special offers like our Cram Session of Back To School specials that can save you $20 on your move. KFC Double Down Sandwich Could Fly

How do you make a sandwich with no bread? Kentucky Friend Chicken may have found the (nearly) perfect answer to this possibly centuries old question with their new Double Down sandwich or burger, as it's sometimes called. TKFC_Signhe sandwich takes two fried chicken fillets and replaces the bun with them, then dumps some pepper jack cheese, bacon and something called Colonel's sauce in between these fillets to make the world's newest, greatest sandwich. And apparently KFC likes to play games with most of the United States since they're offering it only in Providence, Rhode Island, and Omaha, Nebraska. So if you want to try what could be the best-tasting most unhealthiest sandwich that you can get in a drive-thru, head on down to those areas and order an extra sandwich for all of us, too. And if you're interested in saving some money on your next move, visit Starving Students and take a gander at all of the options we have to save you some money on your next move. Cash For Appliances Saves Big

Implemented last month but gaining momentum this month, the Cash for Appliances stimulus plan is gaining attention as it nears active status. The difference between this and the Cash for ClunkeAppliancesrs program is that the Cash for Appliances program is in fact a rebate of between $50 and $200 that can be used towards a new energy-efficient appliance. The rebate will come out of the $300 million that has been allotted to the program towards the purchase of ENERGY STAR® qualified home appliances. The plan was put in place by the Obama Administration to help people save energy while at the same time helping to stimulate the economy in the form of helping out the appliance companies. To prove this point, take into consideration that a newer washing machine could save you $10 or more per month in energy consumption and a new microwave could save you $5 per month. That might not sound like much, but it adds up over the course of a year -- particularly when you consider the money you saved on the rebate, too. And naturally you'll have to move these new appliances when you move and you'll want to save money then, too. Starving Students has several ways that you can save on your next move including our Back To School offer, which can save you $20 on your move. Michael Beasley Checks Into Rehab

Michael_BeasleySouthpaw Miami Heat phenom Michael Beasley has checked himself into rehab after a photo with what appeared to be two small bags of marijuana on a table in front of him showed up online. The photo showed the two small bags next to Beasley, who intended to show his new tattoo to his legions of Twitter followers. Beasley was supposed to have a larger role for the upcoming NBA season with small forward Jamario Moon having departed the team to play alongside Lebron James in Cleveland. The latest debale for Beasley has left many of these plans in doubt. What's not in doubt is the impact our Back To School offer can have on your move. Ryan Jenkins Forces Reality Show Cancels

I think I've written this before, but I'm a sucker for VH-1's slew of reality shows. I watched all of the Flava of Love shows and enoyed the I Love New York shows, too, but another one of my favorites was I Love Money. I enjoy athletic competitions and that show, while goofy at times, is a serious guilty pleasure for me. I love seeing some of the old realVH1ity show contestants trying to tackle insane obstacles based on scenarios from previous reality shows. If you haven't seen the show, it's sort of hard to explain it but check this out to read a more detailed analysis of the program. And don't expect to see a third installment, even though it was taped. Cause Ryan Jenkins, a contestant on Megan Wants A Millionaire and the reported winner of I Love Money 3, is a person of interest in the murder of Jasmine Fiore, 28 year-old model whom he reportedly married on March 18. And now Jenkins has reportedly fled to Canada to avoid any questioning involving the murder of the model. VH-1 has removed all references to Jenkins on its Web site and now is supposedly canceling the airing of I Love Money 3, which again, Jenkins allegedly won. One thing VH-1 has absolutely no say in is how much money you can save with our Back To School offer. To figure this out, give us a call at (888) 931-MOVE (6683) or shoot us an e-mail here This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Favre Ends Retirement To Join Vikings

Brett_FavreAfter 16 legendary seasons with the Green Bay Packers and one forgettable year with the New York Jets, quarterback Brett Favre signed a two-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings. The signing comes just days after Favre assured his fans and everyone else that's been following his multiple retirements, wondering what the durable quarterback was going to do with himself. Now with Favre donning a purple Vikings jersey with his old #4 (thank you John David Booty), the QB will suit up and actually start in this Friday's preseason game at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. Be like Brett and make your return special with our Back To School discount. Michael Vick Joins The Eagles

In what's likely to be one of the most controversial moves of the NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles signed Michael Vick, the former number one overall pick whose arrest and conviction for running a dog-fighting ring ended up with the former Falcons QB serving time in prison for his crime. Vick's signing is thought to be a little curious as the Eagles' All-Pro quarterback Donovan McNabb has enjoyed quite a bit of success leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl a few seasons agoMichael_Vick and his play has done little to warrant a quarterback controversy. One thing that's not controversial is the selection of Starving Students offers that can save you money on your next move. Nintendo Wii Recalls

Owning a Wii can lead to hours of fun. We just got Wii Resort and man is that thing addicting. I don't have the time to pay enough attention to my Wii, but when me and a few others settle down in front of it, you can bet that the next few hours are going to spent bowling against each other in 100-pin lanes or tackling archery courses or playing ping pong or some oNintendo_Wiither game that's made enjoyable by arguably Nintendo's greatest invention. Turns out there is a slight problem with the Wii, however, in the form of a recall that deals with a battery charger for the video game system. The Psyclone Essentials and React Wii 4-Dock Battery Recharge Stations are being recalled because they can overheat and cause a fire. They were available between January 2008 to July 2009 and about 220,000 of them were sold. One thing that you never have to worry about being recalled is our Cram Session. Actually, add our Back To School offer to that list as both present great opportunities to save you $20 on your move. National Left Handers Day

It's finally here, the day everyone's been waiting for -- National Left-Handed Day has arrived, making all the people who use the wrong hand on a regular basis happy to finally be recognized for something other than being a great asset to have on a baseball team. Actually, my mother was left-handed. Yeah, was. I guess her mom and my grandmother made her use her right hand despite her trying to use a rattle with her left hand. I guess it wasn't groovy to use that hand back then. Check out some other interesting facts about those zany left-handers from LeftHandersDay.com:
  • Most left-handers draw figures facing to the right.
  • There is a high tendency in twins for one to be left-handed
  • Stuttering and dyslexia occur more often in left-handers (particularly if they are forced to change their writing hand as a child, like King of England George VI).
  • Left-handers adjust more readily to seeing underwater.
  • Left-handers excel particularly in tennis, baseball, swimming and fencingLeft-Hand
  • Left-handers usually reach puberty 4 to 5 months after right-handers
  • 4 of the 5 original designers of the Macintosh computer were left-handed
  • 1 in 4 Apollo astronauts were left-handed - 250% more than the normal level.
  • Left-handers are generally more intelligent, better looking, imaginative and multi-talented than right handers - based on discussions among members of the Left-Handers Club! :)
Regardless of which hand you use, Starving Students can get you a good deal on your move. We've got a variety of offers to help you save money on your move, making the best move you've ever had even cheaper. Back To School Special

When I was a kid and it was time to go back to school, I would always get nervous about the new classmates I was about to encounter and all the new things there would be to learn. And of course, my mom would make me go buy all new Back_to_Schoolclothes and shoes to prepare for the start of the new school year. I dreaded it when I was a kid, but looking back now, it was necessary -- if you could afford it. A lot of my friends' parents couldn't afford to buy their kids new clothes and they'd come back with the same clothes that they had worn the year before, although it looked a little bit smaller. I however, always had proper-fitting clothes that were fresh and new for the beginning of the year. But with the economy the way that it is now, it's not as easy for people to save up to buy their kids new clothes. I mean, times are tough. If I had kids, they'd probably be wearing older clothes, too. But luckily, Starving Students is here to help people out with their incomes. In the past, we've offered all sorts of discounts and ways to make money and now we've got another one. Paula Abdul Decides To Leave American Idol -- Shuns Simon

Longtime American Idol judge Paula Abdul has announced that she won't be returning to the massively-popular talent show for Paula_Abdulthe ninth season, making the annoucement via Twitter. Abdul leaves the show with just three remaining judges -- Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi, along with host Ryan Seacrest -- all of whom have signed contracts for the show's ninth season.
