Cash For Appliances Saves Big

Implemented last month but gaining momentum this month, the Cash for Appliances stimulus plan is gaining attention as it nears active status. The difference between this and the Cash for ClunkeAppliancesrs program is that the Cash for Appliances program is in fact a rebate of between $50 and $200 that can be used towards a new energy-efficient appliance. The rebate will come out of the $300 million that has been allotted to the program towards the purchase of ENERGY STAR® qualified home appliances. The plan was put in place by the Obama Administration to help people save energy while at the same time helping to stimulate the economy in the form of helping out the appliance companies. To prove this point, take into consideration that a newer washing machine could save you $10 or more per month in energy consumption and a new microwave could save you $5 per month. That might not sound like much, but it adds up over the course of a year -- particularly when you consider the money you saved on the rebate, too. And naturally you'll have to move these new appliances when you move and you'll want to save money then, too. Starving Students has several ways that you can save on your next move including our Back To School offer, which can save you $20 on your move.
